Lazio – FCSB

FCSB, formerly known as Steaua, travels to Rome to face Lazio in a second leg from the 1/16-finals of the Europa League.

Surprising for many people, FCSB managed to win the first game in Bucurest with 1-0. Harlem Gnohere scored the winning goal after 29 minutes of play, which left Lazio without an answer. The Italians tried to equalize, but Simone Inzaghi’s boys didn’t have the luck to do it. And now they have a difficult task in the rematch.

The result from the first leg gives FCSB a certain advantage. If the Romanians score a goal at Stadio Olimpico, this will put Lazio in a difficult situation. Lazio must be very clinical, if they want to reach the 1/8-finals. They know that any win with a two goals margin will allow them to continue.

How these two teams are doing in their domestic leagues? Let’s have a look.

FCSB are currently second in the Romanian Liga I, trailing on 4 points behind the leader CFR Cluj. So far FCSB have won 52 points in the league. They have a record of 15 wins, 7 draws and 3 defeats. In their last five games FCSB won three times and made two draws.

Lazio’s big goal this season is finish in Top 4 and return to the Champions League. So far they are doing well, because they are currently 4th with 49 points. They have a record of 15 wins, 4 draws and 6 losses. In their last five games Lazio won twice, but also lost three times. This shows us that Simone Inzaghi’s team have some problems in terms of consistency.

Even with a 0-1 deficit from the first leg, Lazio remain a favourite against FCSB. They have a much better squad, but let’s see how they are going to deal with this result.
