Liechtenstein – Macedonia

Liechtenstein welcomes FYR Macedonia in a match from Group 4 of League D of the Nations League. Let’s take a look at this game.

Liechtenstein are currently 4th in this group with 3 points and a record of 1 win and 3 losses. Their only win so far came against Gibraltar at home, but in the other three matches they suffered defeats.

In their last match Liechtenstein travelled to Gibraltar and opened the score via Dennis Salanovic, but the home team turned the game around with goals from George Cabrera and Joseph Chipolina. In this way Liechtentein missed a very good opportunity to improve their position in the group. Now they are at the bottom of the standings, but the game against Macedonia is another opportunity for them.

Speaking of Macedonia, the Balkan team is leading the group standings with 9 points won so far. Until this moment, the Macedonian team won all of its matches in the group, with the only exception being the visit to Armenia in the last fixture. In this game the Balkan side suffered a really heavy 0-4 defeat, which was a huge dissapointment for everyone in the country. It was not a good day for the Macedonian team, that’s for sure.

When these two teams met for the last time, Macedonia achieved a 4-1 win in Skopje. Aleksandar Trajkovski scored a brace for the home team, while Goran Pandev and Egzijan Alioski also scored one for Igor Angelovski’s team. The only goal for Liechtenstein in this match was scored by Seyhan Yildiz in the first half. In other words, it was a dominant performance by Macedonia, who left their opponents without any chance for a reaction.

That’s what we thought about the Nations League clash between Liechtenstein and Macedonia in League D of the competition.
