Manchester City – Basel

Manchester City hosts Basel in a second leg from the UEFA Champions League 1/8-finals. The match is going to be played at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday night.

Pep Guardiola’s Man City have a brilliant advantage of four goals after a 4-0 win in the first leg. The English side totally dominated Basel in the first game. Goals from Ilkay Gundogan (twice), Bernardo Silva and Sergio Aguero crushed the Swiss champions and made the second leg a walk in the park for City.

What could Manchester City do after a 4-0 win in the first leg? Well, they are already in the 1/4-finals. Now the Citizens could just have fun and bring some joy to their fans. Manchester City are playing a terrific football this season and there are a lot of people who watch them closely. This is their responsibility right now – to not lose their grip and to continue to perform in such a brilliant way.

For Basel there ain’t much to be said. The Swiss team will try to leave the competition with some honour after the heavy defeat in the first game. Basel are not a bad team at all and the fact that they reached the 1/8-finals proves this. But the simple truth is that they are miles away from the quality and the class of Manchester City.

It won’t be surprising to see Josep Guardiola giving some rest to a few of his key players. People like Kyle Walker, David Silva, Kevin De Bruyne and Leroy Sane could use some rest. Or maybe Gabriel Jesus will lead the attack and Sergio Aguero will get the chance to recharge the batteries?

We expect to see another dominant performance by Manchester City against Basel. They are one of the favourites to win the trophy this season.
