Newcastle United – Everton
Newcastle United faces the Premier League leaders Everton at the St. James’ Park on Sunday. This is a game from the 7th round of the competition. Let’s preview it right now.
Newcastle United approach the 7th round of the Premier League from 14th place in the standings. The Magpies have 8 points won so far and a record of two wins, two draws and two losses. They have lost just once in their last four matches in the league – against Manchester United at the St. James’ Park.
Last week Newcastle made their second draw for the season. Steve Bruce’s team faced Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Molineux and got a point after a 1-1 draw. It was a really dramatic game as Wolves opened the score in the 80th minute, but the visitors secured the point with an equalising goal from Jacob Murphy in the 89th minute. It was a good point won at a very difficult stadium to play at.
Everton are the current leaders in the Premier League with 13 points won so far in the competition. The Toffees are sharing the top spot with the champion Liverpool, but they are first because of a better goal difference. The manager Carlo Ancelotti and his boys are doing some terrific job since the beginning of the season.
Last weekend Everton suffered their first loss for the season. The Toffies traveled to face Southampton at the St. Mary’s, but didn’t have a good game and suffered a 0-2 loss. Southampton scored both of their goals in the first half while Everton were unable to respond. Meanwhile the left back Lucas Digne was sent off in the 72th minute, so he won’t be avaliable for the next game.
That’s our preview for the Premier League game between Newcastle United and Everton. Now the big question is – can Everton keep the first place in the league?
