Sassuolo – Inter

Sassuolo hosts Inter in a match from the 18th round of the Italian Serie A.

Sassuolo are currently 15th in the Serie A standings with 17 points. They are on just 3 points above the 18th SPAL and the relegation zone of the Calcio, so they need to be careful. Although they are 15th, they are in a dangerous position. If they don’t continue to win points, they could find themselves in the danger zone very soon.

In their last five matches Sassuolo won three of them, which is very good. They are in a run of two consecutive wins, recorded against Crotone and Sampdoria. This is exactly the type of performance Sassuolo needs, if they want to survive. And most surely they want it.

Until last weekend Inter were leaders in the Serie A, being ahead of Napoli and Juventus. Everything changed after the home match against Udinese at the Stadio San Siro, which Inter surprisingly lost. Now the Nerrazurri are third in the standings, but being on just two points behind Napoli and one point behind Juventus. For them the title race is still on, but they need to be as consistent as possible, if they aim to beat Napoli and Juve for the Scudetto.

Let’s have a look at the team news before the clash.

Sassuolo can’t use the injured Timo Letschert, while Claud Adjapong and Cristian Dell’Orco are doubtful for the game.

Inter’s manager Luciano Spalletti will be without the suspended Matias Vecino, while Joao Mario is doubtful for the game with a virus. Most likely he won’t be avaliable for the trip to Sassuolo.

This is a difficult game for Inter, because Sassuolo are showing good form lately. But they have to try to win, because the title fight is very close. They need as much points as possible.
