Wolfsburg – Borussia Dortmund
Borussia Dortmund will not stop in the title race with Bayern Munich, so every win for them is going to be precious. On Saturday Die Borussen visit Wolfsburg at the Volkswagen Arena and the only goal is the win. Let’s preview this fixture for you, shall we?
Last week Borussia Dortmund made the headlines after crushing Schalke 04 with 4-0 in the great Ruhr derby of the Bundesliga. It seems that Dortmund prepared well during the COVID-19 quarantine, because they looked great on the pitch. Erling Haland scored once again, while left wingback Raphael Guerreiro made a great game and scored a brace past Marcus Schubert. Thorgan Hazard made an assist and also scored once for Die Borussen.
At this moment the former European champions are second in the league with just 4 points behind the leader Bayern Munich, so the title race is still on in Germany’s top division. The Bavarians remain favourites, but you should not underrestimate Dortmund by any means.
The new signing Emre Can is still injured for Borussia Dortmund, while Axel Witsel and Marco Reus are sidelined as well. This gives the manager Lucien Favre some headache, but he has enough squad depth to deal with the situation.
Wolfsburg on the other hand are having a very good season, too. The win during the visit to Augsburg last week helped the Wolves to enter the Top 6 and climb to 6th place. Their mission remains qualifying for Europe again and so far they are doing more than good.
Wolfsburg had some luck against Augsburg last week. They won the game with 2-1, but their winning goal was scored in the 91th minute. This is when Daniel Ginczek found the net behind Andreas Luthe’s back.
That’s our quick preview for the Bundesliga game between Wolfsburg and Borussia Dortmund on Saturday. When two teams from the Top 6 face each other, that’s always a thrill.
